Taylor, Creer among five Vols who have surgery
Tennessee tailbacks Lennon Creer and Josh Hawkins, defensive tackle Chase Nelson, wide receiver Lucas Taylor and defensive back Brent Vinson had surgery Monday, the UT sports information office announced in a release.
The surgeries were performed by Drs. Greg Mathien and Russell Betcher.
Creer underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and should return by spring practice. Hawkins, a Loudon High School product who redshirted this season, was injured in bowl practice and had a pin placed in the middle part of his left foot to stabilize a torn ligament. He should return for fall practice.
Nelson suffered an injury to his right wrist against Louisiana-Lafayette. He had pins removed from the wrist and is expected to return this spring.
Taylor had an arthroscopic reconstruction on his shoulder and will miss spring practice. He is expected back for individual workouts in the summer.
Vinson also had shoulder arthroscopic reconstruction and will miss spring drills.
