Georgia wary of Vols' back Arian Foster
When coach Mark Richt says Tennessee’s Arian Foster is a “Georgia killer,” he’s not kidding.
The Vols’ tailback, who is on pace to become Tennessee’s all-time leading rusher this season, has run for 161 yards and six touchdowns in the past two games against the Bulldogs.
For more reasons than that, Georgia expects to see a lot of Foster on Saturday. While he already is the school’s all-time leader in touches, new quarterback Nick Stephens will be making his SEC starting debut. And with Lennon Creer and Montario Hardesty in the fold, the Dogs expect a heavy dose of running the football to take pressure off Stephens.
Left guard Chris Davis and middle linebacker Darryl Gamble are likely to start Saturday. … Flanker Tavarres King (ankle) has been cleared to play. … Ben Boyd was moved back to linebacker from fullback because of Brannan Southerland’s return and depth issues on defense. Justin Fields, a sophomore former linebacker, will remain at fullback for the rest of his career, Richt said. … Captains for the Tennessee game are Southerland, Corvey Irvin, Geno Atkins and Drew Williams. … Georgia scrapped plans to practice at Sanford Stadium on Thursday because the field was wet.
